Dunavon House Hotel – Aberdeen Wedding Venue
An intimate wedding venue
When was the last time you were at the Dunavon House Hotel in Dyce? Have you had dinner there, I hear the food is fantastic.
Did you know they held wedding ceremonies in the Dunavon House Hotel?
Are you just starting out planning your wedding and looking for the right the venue?
We’ll let me take you to a venue that’s perfect for a small wedding that I didn’t even know did weddings – Dunavon House Hotel
A venue perfect for a small, intimate wedding ceremony not far from the centre of Aberdeen.
I had the pleasure of officiating a ceremony at The Dunavon House Hotel at the start of March 2024 and was so impressed with it.
This was where Clare and Stuart got married, and in doing their ceremony, I found a wee gem of an intimate wedding venue in Aberdeen.
Let me tell you a bit about The Dunavon House Hotel.
A more personal and intimate atmosphere
A beautiful surprise
This is a stunning little wedding venue in Aberdeen for those small, intimate weddings.
I used to eat regularly at the Dunavon House Hotel many moons ago, and after what I’ve heard about the food there recently, it’s time I went out for another meal.
But I was at the Dunavon for a wedding on 1st March 2024, and in doing that, I found myself a perfect alternative wedding venue for couples having smaller ceremonies in Aberdeen.
The function suite
Clare and Stuart had around 40 guests who were seated comfortably in the function suite, which can hold up to 70 people comfortably.
The function suite is nice and light, although there are blinds for some of the scorching hot days we see sometimes in Aberdeen.
There is also a door that can be left open if it gets a bit hot in there. Let the fresh air roll in.
The function suite was set up for the ceremony first, and once the guests left the ceremony, Stuart Rattray and his team whisked the room around for the reception dinner.
They worked fast and efficiently, nothing was too much bother for them, and hey presto, the reception room looked amazing in no time, so the guests weren’t standing in the bar too long.
But I’ve seen the photos, and the guests didn’t seem to mind spending time in the bar.
Sleepovers
The Dunavon House Hotel has 21 bedrooms, so the wedding party and some of the guests can be accommodated there to if need be.
Those little touches
Stuart and his team were all lovely and really helpful.
It says on their website that attention to detail is important to them all, and you could see and feel that on the day.
Something I’d not seen before but thought was a brilliant idea was a sign on the back of the toilet door asking guests not to post anything on social media for Clare and Stuart’s wedding.
We announce that in the ceremony if that’s what the couple wants, but putting it in the toilets where it can be seen again and again is a great idea, and it worked.
The Dunavon House Hotel is the perfect spot for a small intimate wedding in Aberdeen that I would highly recommend
Why not pop out for a lunch or dinner one weekend, i hear the chip shop platter is amazing.
And whilst your there you could check out the ceremony area.
Tell them Mary (aka The Celebrant Angel) sent you
Of course, you will need a celebrant to create a unique ceremony for you on the day, too, so pop over for a chat and let’s see if your date is free in my diary.
