Drum Castle – Aberdeen Wedding Venue
A wedding venue steeped in history
I have lived near this wedding venue for over 20 years and, sad to say, have never been out to see it. If you have not seen it yet, get yourself out to Drum Castle for a wee wander around; it’s stunning.
Drum Castle is a stunning location for a wedding or even an elopement.
Are you just starting out planning your wedding and looking for the right venue? Something with a bit of history? Let me take you to Drum Castle, a venue perfect for a small wedding.
A venue perfect for a small, intimate wedding ceremony not far from the centre of Aberdeen.
I had the pleasure of officiating a ceremony at Drum Castle in March 2024 for Zoe and Ryan.
It’s a wee gem of an intimate wedding venue in Aberdeen.
Let me tell you a bit about Drum Castle.
one of Scotland’s oldest tower houses
A venue full of surprises
Drum Castle is a stunning spot in Aberdeen for those small, intimate weddings.
The drive up to the castle is lovely, especially at this time of year when spring is around the corner.
The grounds are also kept in immaculate condition, and there is a walled garden.
And they have a brilliant way to keep your guests enterained whilst your off getting your photos done, a tour of the castle, what a fantastic idea.
The Library
Zoe and Ryan decided to hold their ceremony in the library, and although a tad dark, the room had a beautiful feel.
Drum Castle was perfect for them and their family who had come all the way from Canada for this wedding.
The library can hold up to 50 guests, but that would be a tight squeeze in my mind, we had 20 at Zoe and Ryans and that left a little bit of room to play with, but by the time you get photographers and videographers in there it wouldn’t feel very comfortable.
So best kept for small wedding ceremonies or elopements, perhaps.
Sleepovers
There is a stunning one bed-room cottage in the courtyard of Drum Castle and a cottage nearby that sleeps 2.
There is also lots of accommodation around the area for your guests to stay in.
Those little touches
The ladies that deal with the weddings were lovely, nothing was to much bother for them they just fitted in with whatever Zoe and Ryan wanted.
If you’re looking for a wedding in a bit of Scottish history, then Drum Castle is your place.
They have a few spots for wedding ceremonies, and can cater for larger weddings with a marquee in the grounds.
Tell them Mary (aka The Celebrant Angel) sent you
Of course, you will need a celebrant to create a unique ceremony for you on the day, too, so pop over for a chat and let’s see if your date is free in my diary.
