Wedding Cocktail Ritual

“Here’s to alcohol, the rose colored glasses of life.” – Oscar Wilde

Do you love a cocktail? Have you heard about the wedding cocktail ritual?

Are you searching for a wedding ritual that sounds like you?

Something that adds a little bit of your personality to your wedding ceremony?

If cocktails are your thing, perhaps you met over cocktails.

Then why not make a cocktail together during your ceremony?

A wedding cocktail ritual can add that extra bit of fun to your ceremony and is becoming popular with couples for their weddings.

Incorporating a cocktail ritual into your wedding ceremony adds a unique and personal touch to your special day.

It symbolizes the blending of your individual tastes, personalities, and strengths, much like the mixing of ingredients in a cocktail.

By creating and sharing a signature drink together, you’re not only celebrating your love and commitment but also creating a lasting memory that reflects your relationship.

Plus, it’s a fun and interactive way to involve your guests and kick off the festivities in style.

A ritual to impress your guests

Which Cocktail?

Did you meet over cocktails or have a favourite cocktail already that you would like to reproduce for your wedding ceremony?

Or, have you been experimenting and found one that suits you both and would be ideal for your ceremony.

Remember, not everyone drinks alcohol, so you might need a non-alcoholic version of the cocktail as well, and any children attending the wedding could have one of those too.

Once you find the perfect one, each time you make that cocktail after the ceremony, it will bring back some beautiful memories.

There are some lovely pages on the internet with cracking recipes for cocktails. If you don’t already have the one you want, check some out here.

Getting The Cocktail Right On The Day

You need to consider some points beforehand if you choose to include a cocktail ritual in your ceremony.

Keep them simple. You don’t want to be cutting up fruit during your ceremony, do you? But don’t let that stop you from using the recipe you want. If you use ingredients that need to be chopped, have them ready in tubs on the day.

You could, of course, have the cocktail made for you by a professional cocktail mixologist, or perhaps you have a budding Tom Cruise amongst your guests that would like to contribute in some way to your ceremony by making you a cocktail.

But, I think the ritual’s highlight is making the cocktail during the ceremony, so as long as the prep is all done and taken along for you, there is no reason you can’t make it during the ceremony

Practice Makes Perfect

You know we need to practice the rituals before the ceremony, don’t you?

Think how much fun you are going to have doing this rehearsal together in the lead up to the wedding.

Can We Include Family In A Cocktail Ritual?

Of course, you can. It’s a beautiful ritual that allows you to include your family and friends.

Invite them to join you in doing the wedding cocktail ritual, and of course, sipping it afterwards.

Which Glass To Use

Some couples use the Quaich as the drinking vessel for their cocktail, but it doesn’t have to be a Quaich.

How about some goblets explicitly created for your ceremony?

Some companies can create a glass specifically for your wedding that you could pour your cocktail into once mixed. Have your names and the wedding date engraved as a beautiful keepsake.

Sharing Your Wedding Cocktail

You could ask your venue to create the same cocktail for arrival drinks and have it shared amongst your guests whilst you are signing the marriage certificate; that way, they can toast you both with your cocktail.

Another option would be to have it available for guests whilst you’re having your photos taken.

A wedding cocktail ritual can be so much fun at a wedding, and there are many ways to include it in your ceremony.

Are you feeling inspired? Is a cocktail ritual something you think you would like to include in your ceremony?
